Casting Further with the MicroWave Guides On Your Rod

MicroWave™ Guides
Introducing the MicroWave Guide System by the American Tackle Company.   These guides have been invented by Doug Hannon who is also known as “The Bass Professor”.  He has partnered with American Tackle to conceive, design and manufacture the perfect “line control” system for spinning rods.
The system addresses coiling-memory issues with monofilament but it’s ideal for braided lines and really something that has to be felt and seen to be believed. It provides noticeable advantages that standard guide trains cannot by combining science, practical application and custom rod building principles. Many long hours of theory, design & physical testing has resulted in possibly the most dynamic guide train developments to date.

MicroWave™ Advantages
Increased Casting Distance. Achieved by capturing and directing energy into forward motion maintaining line speed.

Reduction in Fatigue. Less force is required for casting using increased line speed because the blank will load and recover more naturally without inhibition from increased line vibration.

Increased Casting Accuracy. Less force is required for casting using increased line speed because the blank will load and recover more naturally without inhibition from increased line vibration.

Increased Lure Range of Rod. Using controlled energy, lighter & heavier lure weights can be used without rod blank materials compensating for lost efficiency.

Wind Knot Tangling Elimination. Converts "pushing line energy" through a guide ring into "pulling line energy" preventing line from traveling beyond the larger stripper guide ring not allowing it to override the frame creating wrapping or knot formation. “ And if that isn’t enough we utilize our brand new Snagless running guides out to the tip”. "Why use a stripping guide that's tangle free when you can use a guide that all but eliminates tangles and then employs snagless running guides for added insurance"

What Are Hand Built Fishing Rods Anyways!?

So you have probably asked yourself what or why would I even need a Handcrafted, Custom Built from scratch fishing rod?

Well the process to building a fishing rod is not simple and involves a lot of attention to detail and a steady hand.  While big named companies can mass produce ugly and most of the time malfunctioning rods, hence why they call them Ugly Sticks, HaHaHa, we do not.  Time and the hand craftsmanship make ANY custom built rod a treasure.

Ok, so whats involved.  This is in the simplest terms...

  • Rod Blank (a blank is a blank, and is the canvas to making the rod)
  • Guides (these are your eyes on the rod and are now made to with stand a crazy amount of stress)

  • Handle/Grips (Most cases Cork is used for freshwater while EVA foam for salt; although I love foam on most rods)
  • Reel Seat (this is where your reel sits and becomes one with the rod itself)
  • Tip Top (the eye at the top that handles the most stress and must weather the storm)

These Components all become affixed to the rod blank in creating a handcrafted fishing rod.  Guides get spaced accordingly to the many charts and depending on rod length, then attached by nylon thread just as a mass produced rod would.  Epoxies and Finishes fill out the end products when attaching critically placed reel seats, handles and guides/tip top.

So in a nutshell this is the very very basics of building a rod.  Its not that easy and in most cases takes much time to make sure it is done correctly without compromising the functionality of the fishing rod.  Anyone will tell you the handcrafted is much better quality then a rod mill rod.  So take all of that into consideration, including that there is an art and the use of many tools involved when hand building a rod.

Military Themed Rods by a Veteran

If you didn't already know, I am a US Air Force Veteran and dang proud of it.  From the very beginning of building rods a while back I decided to pass on this love for the military and designed Military Inspired/Themed rods.

The rods I designed are built on the MHX - rod blanks, but you can have the choice of Batson, St. Croix and the more inexpensive route of CRB.  Although no matter what blank they are built on the color theme is directly related to the US Military branch you choose.....

I offer builds for the following services.....

US Air Force
US Army
USMC
US Navy
US Coast Guard

Special Requests can be done for reserves and National Guard, but you must contact me first to see if I can get the correct components.

To build these patriotic rods I will use PacBay or American Tackle guides and a Graphite reel seat.  Grips/Handle can be in the choice of EVA foam (which I prefer on these) and come with color coordinating trim bands on the butt cap, fore and rear grips.

If interested in any of these please contact me for pricing and details....

STEP 3:  I receive the rod and assess what we discussed.  Then I establish the new components that might need to be purchased for the repair and how long the repair will take.

STEP 4:  The repair is made and billing is established.....  The base fee for ANY rod repair is $40.  No matter how large the repair may be that fee will NEVER change.  The only addition to the final bill will be the cost of parts/components that may be needed.

STEP 5:  Once payment is established then I ship the repaired rod back to you at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.  Thats right!  I will pay for the shipping back to you.  Its that simple.
